1966 CHRYSLER VC VALIANT - $95999

The VC Valiant was introduced in 1966, replacing the outgoing AP6 Valiant. The VC was the
fifth generation model of Chrysler Valiant, receiving a large facelift over the AP6 with a newly
designed front grille, bumpers, bonnet and vertical taillights. 225ci slant sixes were available
as well as the 273ci designated for V8 models. Sedan body styles were popular, while the
‘Safari’ Wagon and ‘Wayfarer’ Ute styles were also available. Production of the VC Valiant at
Tonsley Park continued until 1967.
This particular immaculate example is a factory V8 VC Valiant, manufactured at Tonsley Park
in 1966. This VC has undergone a strenuous rotisserie restoration, and is a true credit to the
current owner’s ambitions and fastidious nature. Below is just a very small list of work that
was done during the restoration to demonstrate the level of detail achieved:

-
Fittings, nuts and bolts zinc plated
-
Window mechanisms plated, regreased and resprung
-
Chassis rails, inner doors, sill panels and pillar cavity waxed
-
Lettering repainted on dash cluster gauges
-
Seat frames sandblasted and recoated
The results of this restoration speak for themselves. New paintwork throughout presents
beautifully and is finished is what appears to be ‘Alpine White’, a Valiant colour offered in
1966. A new black vinyl top provides an excellent contrast to the white body, while also
providing a great canvas for the original C Pillar ‘V8’ badges. All stainless & chrome details
present incredibly throughout and help compliment the subtle body colour. To complete the
look, a set of whitewall tyres, wheel dress trims and hubcaps sitting on original VC V8 5” steel
rims appear at each corner
The interior is just as special as the exterior, featuring red carpet, vinyl door trims, seats,
black crash pad and body colour matched door tops. Similarly to the exterior, the interior
chrome and stainless highlights present beautifully. Being an original V8 example, bucket
seats and a floor mounted gear selector are present as well as the ‘coffin’ style centre
console.
As for the running gear, the 273ci V8 has been rebuilt and performs superably, mated to a
904 TorqueFlite and Borg-Warner diff. While this may not be considered particularly powerful
by today’s standards, it does offer the true period correct sound and driving experience. New
stainless brake and fuels lines have also been installed as well as a stainless exhaust
system.
Opportunities to secure an immaculate VC Valliant such as this example are far and few
between, let alone being a factory V8 with a full rotisserie restoration completed. Let this VC
do the talking and secure it today!
